Preliminary layman-1.0.7

I would have released layman-1.0.7 this weekend but my little server crash managed to rob me more time than I actually had available. So right now the preliminary version lingers around in my overlay.

I'd be grateful if a few people could test its functionality and provide feedback. Should help to get this version out a little bit faster.

It now requires contact information in the overlay description and only lists official overlays if you do not list using the verbose option. It also has support for mercurial overlays, handles error messages in an improved fashion and has preliminary support for sorting overlays according to a priority so that conflicts between overlays can be avoided.

layman-1.0.7 will probably be the last version for a while since webapp-config has been craving for more attention for a longer time now.

Es muss nicht immer die Seite mit der Butter sein

Als mir heute Mittag mein frisch aufgebackenes, goldig braunes und wohlig duftende Brötchen in das Spülwasser gefallen ist, habe ich geschrien. So richtig laut "Scheiße" habe ich geschrien. Seit Jahren habe ich nicht mehr so leidenschaftlich geflucht und gebrüllt.

Normalerweise bin ich nicht so. Normalerweise bin ich eher der ruhige Typ. Und so ein Semmelchen würde mich nie aus der Fassung bringen. Normalerweise.

Vielleicht lag es einfach daran, dass heute morgen keine einzige der von mir betreuten Webseiten lief. Oder daran, dass die E-Mail für zwei Tage nicht funktionierte. Oder an meinen Bemühungen gestern Abend trotz Migräne weiter zu arbeiten. Der fehlende Schlaf die Nacht davor?

Gott, was bin ich eine Heulsuse geworden. Das arme Brötchen. Es ist nicht mal mit der Butterseite in das Wasser geklatscht. Und hat beim anschließenden Verzehr auch nur ganz zaghaft zwischen den Zähnen gequietscht. Verzeih mir.

Server crash

I am slowly recovering from a crash of my main server on Wednesday and currently shovelling web pages, web applications and the mail system to new servers. I hope to have most stuff back online tonight.

And I still love Gentoo. Without that distro this event would be so much more horrible than it currently is.
