Some tracks

Quite a while ago that I posted about some mp3's floating on the net. Probably just did not have too much time to search for new ones. Anyhow there are a few in my current playlists that are probalby worth mentioning:

I especially enjoy the last two. Feels like summer.

Paris and some poetry

Lately I did not have enough time to browse through the Tonspion or download.com for interesting music. I would need to automatize the process of fetching new mp3's but I currently don't see when I will have the time for this little python project.

Anyhow, two things are worth mentioning. One is a song from Stefan Krachten. It is called Paris and they play it from time to time on soma.fm. I was happy to see that this is available as free music.

The second piece is Pointof Scheißegal from Mirco Buchwitz. It is german poetry and somewhat weird. I hope I'll hear more stuff like this from the guy tonight...

The Soma Haunt

Nice. They have a Halloween special on SomaFM. I really don't care about Halloween but I don't mind switching to darker tunes for a weekend.

It's definitely strange music with wailing babies in the background...

Music overload

It's just too much ... Really amazing to see how much good music is available for free on the internet. I totally gave up on checking all new stuff on Tonspion or Download.com. Guess I'll really never need to buy a CD anymore.

My last two weeks turned out to be dominated by electronic music. I got totally hooked to Soma FM. I really enjoy the Groove Salad but most of the time I'm listening to the Secret Agent stream. I enjoy those little snippets from all the bond movies.

Today Soma FM played Awaken from Sophie Moleta. Really enjoyed that one and there are a number of nice songs on her page.

This week the Spiegel had another part of its free music series. They also focused on electronic music so it blended well with the other stuff I am listening to at the moment. They featured bad loop a guy from Finland. He offers a collection of really nice songs on his page. This link also helped me to discover the KAHVI collective that has an endless amount of electronic mp3's.

Simply too much ...

This is "boring" ...

... a nice piece of music from Carouge. You can download some of their songs at music.download.com. They classify it as "Euro-Pop" but I think it's not really dance music. Little bit too moody for that, but I like it.

Jammin Inc

I think a full album ("Mit Anlauf") released under the Creative Commons License deserves a note. Jammin Inc is a german band which crosses Hip Hop, Reggae and some rock to an interesting new mix. They gave a really good interview (in german) to the Tonspion and explained why they chose to use the free license.

Though I am not much of a HipHop fan I can definitely recommend the songs "Stop" and "System overload".

Weird music

Browsed the Tonspion and some other sites today including the strange universe of Richard von der Schulenburg. Some weird electronic sounds but I actually liked Elektrisch. Another song, "Dies ist nicht Amerika", is the german version of the Bowie song and worth listening to ... maybe once.

More weird stuff? rathergood.com is certainly a highlight in that area. The music is more into the direction of ska and the (flash) videos offered are slightly bizarre. "First drink of the day" somehow reminded me of my last visit to UK. "Looking for my leopard" has some eye candy for cat lovers but the songs not worth downloading. You might try "Your Mums Your Dad" which is another ska song from 7 seconds of love.

Enough weirdness for today.

Mercedes Mixed Tape

Just a short note that the Mercedes Mixed Tape 8 is available for free download.

With all those free downloads like the Mixed Tape, Live8 and the stuff from Tonspion or similar sites I really don't feel the need to buy any music anymore.

But I might consider spending it on a trip to Berlin to see Martin Jondo ...

Spiegel Online - Free Music - Part 3

A while ago Spiegel Online started a series of articles with links to free music. The links to the articles that have been published so far can be found here.

Many of the songs listed are quite good and here are the ones from part 3 that I really liked:
